Wealdstone 0- 2 Hillingdon Borough
Last night, In the first competitive home game to be played at Ruislip Manor Sports & Social Club faciltities, the Stones were knocked out of the Middlesex Charity Cup by Hillingdon Borough.
The Stones line-up contained a mix of first team players and reserves with only four of the squad that had featured in the AFC Wimbledon game the previous night (Andre Dellisser, Marcus Gross, Jon Nichols and Dean Papali) starting this game. Ben Alexander made a welcome return partnering Dean Papali up-front, Marcus Gross played in his usual central defender role tonight.
Hillingdon who are currently 16th in the British Gas Business League, South and West Division fielded three ex-Wealdstone players in their line-up, Danny Tilbury, James Duncan and Dave Lawrence.
The first half saw very few clear cut chances with the Stones edging actual possession but lacking that clinical touch in front of goal. Early in the second half, Dean Papali hit a post but it was Hillingdon who took the lead in the 67th minute when Danny Tilbury who was completely unmarked, headed in from a corner. The visitors clinched their passage into the next round when they scored their second goal from a shot from just inside the penalty area that beat Daniel Carr in the Stones goal.
This latest defeat leaves the London Senior Cup as the only cup competition that the Stones are left in. They play Fisher Athletic in the quarter-finals, next Wednesday evening 27th Feb at the Manor.
